The program is intended to assist in the growth of jobs in Evanston through entrepreneurship, helping residents and local business owners to create jobs by starting and retaining sustainable small businesses. Funds can be used to cover operating expenses, equipment, licensing fees, and other eligible expenses.
The Economic Development component funds are available on an as-needed basis throughout the year to all eligible applicants meeting program component requirements until all funds allocated to this component have been distributed. All awards in this category are predicated upon project feasibility and a demonstrated need for funds. Only projects that create and/or retain permanent jobs will be funded. Projects should attract sizable private investment, have solid commitments to create or retain permanent jobs and demonstrate financial feasibility and benefit to low-to-moderate income persons.
The Bridge the Gap Fund is a grant that provides financial assistance to Black entrepreneurs who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 and/or looting destruction. This grant runs in 3-month cycles.Eligibility Requirements:- Must be an identified Black entrepreneur operating services within the United States- Business impacted by COVID-19 and/or looting destruction- The business has been launched no later than January 1st, 2020- Able to provide documentation to demonstrate financial losses (Profit and Losses)
